Canteen - How to Order

The school canteen follows the Traffic Light approach to healthy eating. Foods are categorised into RED LIGHT (not healthy), AMBER LIGHT (limited health value) and GREEN LIGHT (healthy) foods. Red Light food is not included on our canteen menu and there is limited Amber Light food. Green Light food is the predominant food choice offered. The nutritious food and snacks are reasonably priced and encourages the eating of healthy foods for our students.

Special menu days include, ‘Make Your Own Lunch’ buffet style lunches, and ‘Heart Warmers’ special winter warming soups. In addition to these special menus the canteen runs a variety of education programs which highlight the importance of diets and foods rich in vitamins and minerals.

Canteen menus are interchanged regularly providing students from Pre Primary to Year 7 with a chance to order from a selection of winter and summer menus.

The Wembley Primary School canteen is managed by a canteen manager and is staffed by volunteer parents. Situated within the undercover area the canteen is open three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Tuesdays on public holidays). To order lunch, students enclose money and write their orders on paper bags before school starts and place in a lunch bucket in the classroom. Canteen menus are issued to students at the start of each term.
