Comments: Choose blue, green, yellow and draw wavy lines on paper to represent water and waves. Cut paper triangles and fold to represent yachts. Paste over 'waves'

Title: Rainbow Fish

Medium: Wax crayon, sequins and edicol dye
Comments: We read the book "Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister. Children drew their fish and coloured with wax crayon. Then they washed over it with blue edicol dye.  When dry they glued sequins on fish.

Medium: Pictures from magazines, crayons, glue, paper
Comments: We explored Magritte’s art through using the CD-rom called The Mystery of Magritte. We cut pictures out of magazines. We changed their bodies and their heads. We sometimes added pants and we made some funny and interesting things. Next we made backgrounds by using some crayons and we drew some details like trees, bushes, houses and buildings.

Comments: Using cutout pictures students painted over them with short brush strokes and mixing colours with white.

Title: Don't be a Thug, Don't Do Drugs!

Medium: Pencils/felt pens
Comments: Local Community Police Constable Gittos invited students to enter the GURD Design a Poster competition.  Students had to include Gurd in their design and use a slogan to promote non use of drugs and alcohol.  Three students in Mrs Shilling's class won a t-shirt for their fantastic efforts.

Comments: Children chose a partner to sit opposite them.  They drew the head shape with charcoal sticks then added other facial details.  They used the charcoal (rubbed with fingers) to add shadows.  Two coloured crayons were then used (some blended) to add small details.

Comments: Children sponged the background first and waited for it to dry.  They then dabbed on red and white with small paint brushes and cotton buds.  We wanted to give the impression of a field of flowers like Monet's painting of poppies
