Comments: Students listened to and analysed Ian Mudie's poem.  They discussed the image the poem created.  They then painted their own impressions.

Comments: Students used an outline of their own hand then filled the whole shape of the hand with carefully drawn shapes.

Title: Geometric Shapes and Lines

Medium: Texta, cartridge paper, compass, ruler
Comments: Students followed directions given in the book Junior Visual Arts for Teachers - Geometric Shapes and Lines P37. Following curved lines was difficult for the children to do.

Title: Monsters

Medium: crayon, dye paper 'cut out' eyes and 3 legs
Comments: We did the monsters because we were studying Fantasy.  Some of us had paper with 3 legs and some had paper with 2 eyes on it.  Then we had to draw our monster from the 3 legs or the 2 eyes.  We had to think about contrasting colours.

Title: Masks

Medium: Paint, paper, glue, foil, feathers, glitter, paper plate
Comments: We had to make a mask that was a character or a festival mask because we were studying countries and their culture.  We had to design and make our own character mask.
Inspired by: Studying other countries.


 
Title: Windy Weather

Year Level: Year 4            Term 3
Medium: Paint, straws, cling wrap
Comments: Children used blue and black wash, then covered with cling wrap and left to dry.  Stiple painted green fields. Using a straw they blew paint in one direction to create the effect of trees blowing in the wind.

Comments: Children looked at Van Gogh's Irises and tried to paint using the same style.  They tried dabbing and using the side of the brush to get the effects.

Title: Snails

Medium: Dye, glue, string, card
Comments: Children had to draw a snail on a small piece of card and then glue string to cover the whole thing.  After that they needed to cover it with dye and print onto another page.  They did this four times.

Title: The Solar System

Year Level: Year   7          Term 3
Medium: Oil Pastels and chalk on card
Comments: The aim was to artistically represent our Solar System and order the planets from the Sun. Size of the planets in relation to each other and the Sun was also a consideration. Oil Pastels and chalk was used to shade the planets.
