Welcome to Room Three!

We are a class of Year One and Two children at Westfield Park Primary School.  There are 19 children altogether. There are 9 boys and 10 girls. Our teacher is Mrs Maxwell and she likes flowers.  She likes good people, so most of us are good.

Maths
We like maths because sometimes we can play Lego and Dominoes. We do Maths most days. Maths is fun because we can do lots of things like numbers, counting and adding.

We do pretend shopping because we are learning about money.  We made some things we pretend are things to buy and we have to give the right money to buy it.  Sometimes we only have 50 cents to spend and we have to choose things that add up to 50 cents.  Sometimes we have to get change back.

We use calculators as well.  We play a game where we have to add up and we find the answer on the calculator.  We can get questions on the calculator like:  5 + ? = 10.  We would have to put in the number 5.  This means that 5 + 5 = 10.

We use Lego to build Australian animals.  We use different shapes to make the animals.

Sport
Sometimes we play skittles - one of the people at the front have to go behind the skittles and then the person behind them have to get the ball and throw it at the skittles.  The people at the back have to get the ball and give it to the next person.

We go over the ladder in the undercover area and we have to turn when we are half way then we go down backwards.  It is called the Rainbow ladder because it is the shape of a rainbow.

On the oval we run to the trees and come back.  We had to hop around the cones and touch them.
We have to jog through obstacles like sticks on the ground.

Sometimes we have to throw a ball, hit it with a tennis racquet then catch the ball again in one hand.  We do this by ourselves.
Net ball - we have to throw the ball at the net and the net bounces it back to you and you have to catch.  If you catch the ball you get two more turns.

Reading
We do reading every day.  We read about animals and then we answer questions on worksheets.

Every morning we get a new reading book to take home to read to our family.  The next day we bring the book back and get another.  We have to have someone sign a sheet to say we have read a page.

We go to the Library every Thursday to borrow a book to read.  We take that back the next Thursday and swap for another book.

Our favourite books are:

  • Animal books
  • Rosie's Walk
  • Puss in Boots
  • Fairy Tales
  • I Spy books
Reading is FUN, EXCITING, ALRIGHT and EXCELLENT!

Writing
Sometimes we write in our Daily Writing books and sometimes Mrs Maxwell makes charts with words on them and we have to use the words when we write.
We have to think about WHO, WHEN, WHERE, WHAT and FEELINGS when we write.
We like writing about assembly, what we do on the weekends, dogs and other animals.
We do writing every day.
