This Term in our class we have been learning about teddy bears and other bears. We have had a Teddy Bears' picnic. We made some Teddy Bears. We have also read lots of books about bears. We have painted teddy bears. We have made teddy bear papier-mache. We coloured in some teddy bears. We found information about teddy bears. We know why teddy bears are called teddy bears. We are learning about plants in our class:
- Plants have a stem and leaves.
- Some plants have flowers.
- Plants are living things.
- All plants have roots which hold the plant in place.
- The roots bring food and water to the plant which travels up the stem.
- Plants need water to grow.
- We have plants growing in our classroom because we wanted to see what seed would grow the fastest.
- Some plants don't have flowers.
- Some plants grow really tall and some are very small.

We are learning about Australia in our class. These are some of the things we know:Go here to find out About Australia.
- The capital of Australia is Canberra.
- We speak English - some language is different to other English speaking people.
- Our country is very multicultural. In our school we have children from many other countries.
- Most Australians eat with a knife and fork.
- The first people in Australia were the Aboriginals. See a drawing of Tiddalik - a Dreamtime story.
We are learning some things about France.

- Some French people wear berets.
- The Eiffel Tower is called that because the person who made it was Gustaf Eiffel.
- The Eiffel Tower is made out of metal.
- The days of the week are not said, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They are Lundi, Mardi, Mercredi, Jeudi, Vendredi, Samedi and Dimanche.
- They eat croissants, snails, frogs' legs and baguettes.
- France is in Western Europe and is north of the Equator.
- The capital of France is Paris.
- In France they say Cendrillon for Cinderella.
- Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast are Fairy Tales written by a French person and the word for Prince is Le Prince.
- The French people speak French.
Japan
Our class knows a lot about Japan.
We know that:
- The people speak a different language called Japanese.
- They don’t use the same alphabet as us.
- They eat lots of rice and drink green tea.
- Their country is smaller than ours and has lots of mountains.
- They have family baths.
- Some houses in the country have thatched roofs and we don’t.
- They eat with chopsticks instead of knives and forks.
- Some people have to get their water from a lake.
- They have black hair and their skin is a light brown colour.
- They have McDonalds just like us.
- They sleep on a mattress on the floor and in the morning they roll it up and put it away.
- They have traditional folk tales like our fairy tales. See the artwork we did about Momotaro.
Some great places to visit are:
- The women wear kimonos for special occasions only now. They used to wear them all the time.
