Spiders
We made spider kites, spider mobiles, Miss Mud Puddles and The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly Venn diagrams.Have a look at our kites and mobiles!
- To make the kites we had to get a big round, white piece of paper then we drew a spider on it. Then our teacher gave us some strips of coloured paper to stick on the kites to make streamers. We then had to outline the spider drawing and colour it in.
- To make the spider mobiles we got some black cardboard and then our teacher gave us some spider outlines to trace around on the cardboard. Then we had to cut out the spider. We had to make eyes out of paper and stick them on the spider shape. We had to put string through a hole in the middle of the spider to hang them from the ceiling.
- We had sheets with a Venn diagram on and we had to compare the stories of Miss Mud Puddles and The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.
Underwater Art
We made lots of pictures of sea creatures, coral and seaweed. We got a white sheet of paper then we painted it with blue wash to look like the ocean. Then we traced around some fish templates on coloured paper and cut the fish out. Our teacher gave us lots of different green paper like cellophane, crepe paper and normal paper. We had to cut it out to look like seaweed and glue it on to our painted paper. Then we had to glue all our sea creatures on as well.

RAINBOW FISH
Our teacher read us the story of The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. We then decided to make our own, so read how we made them.Look at our Rainbow Fish.
- We got a big sheet of white paper and we drew a picture of a fish in printing pencil.
- Then we had to colour it in using pencil, texta or crayon. It had to be all different colours and bright.
- We had to colour the background blue using pencil, texta or crayon.
- Our fish had to have scales all over the body and we coloured all the scales less one.
- We went to our teacher and she put some glue and sprinkled some glitter on it.
Dioramas
We made dioramas in our classroom. They could be about under the sea or about Antarctica.
- We had to make the background first in our cardboard box. We used crayons, paper and cellophane to make our backgrounds.
- Then we had to make pictures of sea creatures like penguins, fish, crabs, octopus, seals, seahorses, dolphins, starfish, whales and turtles.
- Our teacher gave us some shells to put on the bottom of our diorama.
- Some people cut out paper to make seaweed and coral.
- Most of the people went to another teacher and she gave them string to hang the fish from the top of the box to make it look the fish were swimming in the water.
Fish
We are learning about Sea Creatures. We have been writing stories about sea creatures and we made some fish mobiles. We also made a sea picture.Have a look at our Sea Creatures!
- To make the fish mobiles:
- First we get a strip of paper from our teacher.
- Then we had to decorate one side of the strip of paper.
- When that was done we gave it to our teacher to make two cuts - one at one end of the strip and the other at the other end of the paper strip.
- We then had to loop the paper around and put the two cuts together to make a fish shape.
- We had to pick another small strip of coloured paper to loop around in the middle to make a wave shape inside out fish outline.
- Then we cut out some circles from white paper to make eyes to glue on.
- Last of all we had to colour the fish's tail and hang it up for everyone to see.
- We had some seaweed shapes to decorate and make it look more interesting.
