School Council

Our School Council is an integral part of the school decision making process.  The eight parent and staff representatives meet each term and consider school plans, policies and current issues.  During the cycle of School Development Planning parent representatives are involved in the review and development of our various plans.
All schools have a School Council that includes parent representatives. At Westfield Park PS we are endeavouring to make the role of parents in this group have a stronger link and representation of the wider parent body. Two new initiatives support this endeavour. Parents conducted a school survey of parent views with one to one interviews conducted with a large proportion of parents. In addition to collecting valuable information it has provided councillors with the opportunity to develop a profile within the community. Councillors also wear a name badge that indicates their role in the school.

Councillors also coordinate "Friday Chats" with the Principal which invites a small group of parents to have a informal talk with the Principal about local and wider educational and school issues.
