Students will create and perform a soundscape to speech piece "Dust Storm".
Students will sing and create movement to song "Rainbow Snake".
Students will perform for assembly.
Students will reflect upon their work through a self assessment sheet.

Arts Ideas	Groups - Compose introduction - coda - ostinato to "Dust Storm".  May choose vocal - body percussion - untuned percussion.  Create movement to "Rainbow Snake".  Perform for class and assembly.
Arts Skills and Processes	Compose simple notation for introduction - coda - ostinato. Add dynamics.  Play on instruments.  Perform for class and assembly.
Arts Responses	Listen to and compare recorded Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal instruments.  Reflect on own and other group soundscape compositions.  Written assessment on self and working in a group.  View video and evaluate assembly performance in written form.
Arts in Society	Listen to a variety of Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal music.  Discuss traditional and contemporary Aboriginal music.

Composed introduction, coda, and ostinato.

Showed an understanding of crescendo and decrescendo.

Used simple notation to show rhythmic patterns.

Completed self assessment sheet.

Students will design and paint dust storm and sun.

Arts Responses	Compare modern and traditional art.  Express feelings about own art works.  Reflect in written form on own art work.  View and discuss video of art exhibition at assembly.
Arts in Society	View video of modern and traditional practices.  Make and carry out design in terms of Aboriginal theme.  Understand how Arts vary according to different cultures.
