The year 6/7 students have been studying Jazz and Blues in Term 1.  After learning the song "Wet Day Blues" by Susie Davies-Splitter and Phil Splitter, they had to write their own words to the melody.  These were written in one lesson, so appear as "work in progress".

There are certainly potential song writers at Westfield Park Primary School.

Room 16 Lyrics for "Wet Day Blues"
by Susie Davies-Splitter and Phil Splitter
Ryan’s Blues Lyrics

A wet old Wednesday, caught in a storm, wet day blues, wet day blues
A wet old Wednesday, caught in a storm, wet day blues, wet day blues
First I was satched and then I was zapped,
Wet day blues, wet day blues.

Chorus:
I’m splishing and splashing, shaking and cracking, wet day blues
I’m splishing and splashing, shaking and cracking, wet day blues
Splish, splosh, splash and a zap, zap zap, wet day blues, wet day blues.

The thunder is crackin’, I’m a smackin’ wet day blues, wet day blues
The thunder is crackin’, I’m a smackin’ wet day blues, wet day blues

 “Blues Song”
(work in progress)

I saw a person wearing a wig. It’s a great day moo when you’re blue.
I saw a person wearing a wig. It’s a great day moo when you’re blue.
It came windy all of a sudden, all I saw was a man crying on the floor. It’s a great day moo when you’re blue.

The man was crying all day, It’s a great day moo when you’re blue
The man was crying all day, It’s a great day moo when you’re blue

The man got up and he saw a duck, It’s a great day moo when you’re blue
The man got up and saw a duck It’s a great day moo when you’re blue

He saw the duck. It had his wig, It’s a great day moo when you’re blue

Bored Blues

Stormy, old Friday, stuck in the house
What do I do? Bored day blues.
Stormy, old Friday, stuck in the house
What do I do? Bored day blues.
My sister’s a hiding in the house
She jumped right out and said “boo!”

On Sunday morning on the way to the loo,
the rain came down then I was blue.
On Sunday morning on the way to the loo,
the rain came down then I was blue.
I’m all blues through the wet loo
Wet day loo, wet day loo.

Car Crash Blues

Snowy, old Friday, I’m going home, along the state line, along the state line.
Snowy, old Friday, I’m going home, along the state line, along the state line.
But I always cause a pile up, I’m also trapped, car crash blues.
(repeat)

Wet Drain Blues

Poor little kitty, caught in the drain
All drenched through, wet drain blues.
Poor little kitty, caught in the drain
All drenched through, wet drain blues.
Kitty’s swimming and drowning from top to bottom,
All drenched through, wet drain blues.

I’m feeling so sorry ‘cause my kitty’s stuck
He’s all drenched through, wet drain blues.
I’m feeling so sorry ‘cause my kitty’s stuck
He’s all drenched through, wet drain blues.
Dark and scary, cats all hairy,
All drenched through, wet drain blues.

Chorus
Scratch, scratch, scratch, all drenched through,
Meow, meow, meow, all drenched through
Wet drain blues.
Scratch, scratch, scratch, meow, meow, meow,
All drenched through, wet drain blues.

Cloudy Day Blues

Cloudy old morning, I got caught in the clouds,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.
Cloudy old morning, I got caught in the clouds,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.
Finally the clouds got out of my way, yahoo! Cloudy day blues, cloudy day blues.

Slipped on my shoes and I went for a jog,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.
Slipped on my shoes and I went for a jog,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.
Finally the clouds got out of my way, yahoo! Cloudy day blues, cloudy day blues.

When I got to the shops, they were closed,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.
When I got to the shops, they were closed,
I’m all soaked through, cloudy day blues.

Sweat Day Blues

Hot day at school, I want to go to the pools
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.
Hot day at school, I want to go to the pools
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.
Sweat, sweat, sweat, sweating all over
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.

The aircon’s broken, frog outside croaking,
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.
The aircon’s broken, frog outside croaking,
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.
Sweat, sweat, sweat, sweating all over
I’m all soaked through, sweat day blues.
