Henry Collins [1849] married Caroline BOELL on 10 October 1871 at Bishops Ryder, Birmingham, Warwickshire.   Their children were:

From England to Australia

 

Henry, Caroline and their children arrived in Western Australia vide the 'Chollerton' on the 25 March 1887.  They lived at 'Ferndale', Orrong Road, Burswood, Perth.  On the 22 December 1887, their daughter Sarah Ada died from Rheumatic Fever and Pericarditis.  Sarah was 11 years old and she is buried in the East Perth Cemetery.

 

Henry Collins died on the 18 October 1921 and is buried at Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, with his daughter-in-law, Alice nee Wright.

 

Caroline Collins [nee Boell] died on the 10 March 1922 at Geraldton, and is buried in the Geraldton Cemetery, WA

 

Herbert William married Alice WRIGHT in 1898, at Cottesloe [suburb of Perth, WA].  They had two daughters:

 

Alice Maud Collins born 1899 at Perth.

Christobel Caroline Collins [aka Colleen, Collie] born 1900 at Perth.

 

In 1906, Mrs Alice Collins, aged 38, with her daughters Miss Alice aged 6, and Collie aged 5, boarded the ship Damascus at Fremantle bound for London.  On the 21 July 1906 they returned to Australia. The reason for this trip is unknown, perhaps to visit family in England, or merely a shopping trip!

 

Christobel, known as Colleen or Collie, and Alice, known as Maud, both excelled in music.  They attended the Dominican Convent School in Leonora, Western Australia.  In December 1909 Maud passed her Preparatory Grade theoretical musical examination connected with the Trinity College (London), with a mark of 87%.

 

In 1911, both Colleen and Maud attended the Lancefield State School in Perth, WA and were both in Standard IV, where they were awarded gold medals for excellence of studies.

 

In 1913, examinations in connection with the London College of Music at Marvel Loch were taken by Colleen, Intermediate Level Pianoforte, with a result of 88%.   In July of that year, both Maud and Colleen attended the Marvel Loch children's fancy dress ball.  Colleen as "Post Cards" and Maud as "Geisha Girl".

 

By 1914 Colleen was studying at Methodist Ladies College in Perth.  She passed her Kr College of Music:  Intermediate Grade exam in pianoforte in December of that year. 

 

Sometime after 1914, Herbert, Alice and their daughters left for South Africa.  Herbert, Alice and Christobel returned to Western Australia on the 'Runic' on 8 April 1923 from Capetown.

Herbert, Alice and Christobel again left Australia on the 14 July 1925 bound for Durban on the SS Medic.  Herbert worked at the Cam and Motor Mine, and lived with his family at Eiffel Flats in Southern Rhodesia.

On the 22nd January 1939 Herbert and Alice returned to WA, arriving at Fremantle on the 'Anchises' which travelled from Liverpool to Brisbane via the Cape.  Herbert is listed as an Engineer aged 66 born England, and Alice is listed as Home Duties aged 70 born in Ireland.  They both intended to return to Southern Rhodesia, but Alice became ill whilst in Perth, and died on the 04 March 1939.  Alice is buried in the Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, with her father in law Henry Collins.

Herbert returned to Southern Rhodesia after Alice's death, where he married Francina Petronella VAN NIEKERK (nee unknown).  Herbert died in 1966 at East London, South Africa.

 

 Alice Maud [1899]married Claude Lawrence GADD-CLAXTON in 1922 at Gatooma, South Africa.  Alice returned to Perth, Western Australia where she died in 1971. 

 

Christobel Caroline was married at least twice.  She married a man named PHILLIPS, and also a John KALLIPEDIS.  Christobel died in Johannesburg on 4 January 1985, and was buried in the Braamfontein Cemetery on the 9th January 1985 under the surname of KALLIE.

 

 

Robert Henry Collins [1875] married Rosa [aka Rose Linda] GIBSON on the 8 November 1899, at Burswood, Perth, Western Australia.  Robert and Rose Linda had the following children:

 

Edith Mary Collins  born 23 September 1900, Perth, WA.  Edith married  Ernest LITTLEWOOD at Boulder WA in 1933.  She died on 23 February 1984 at Geraldton, WA.

 

Gladys Alinda Collins born 23 September 1902, Fremantle, WA.  Gladys married George NAULTY at Boulder WA in 1922. She died on 03 October 1985 at Geraldton, WA.

 

Grace Leila Collins born 10 December 1905. Grace married Trellis RITCHIE at Armadale, WA on 31 March 1925.  She died 24 October 1933.

 

Robert Sydney Collins born 18 June 1907, Kookynie, WA.  Robert married Elfreda May ROBERTS at Boulder, WA on

22 May 1926.  Robert died on 29 December 1963. Robert Sydney Collins is my grandfather.

 

Alice Eileen Collins bn 11 September 1910, Kookynie, WA.  Alice married John Leslie BOYD in 1927 at Perth, WA.

Alice died on 24 July 1982.

 

Frank Gibson Collins born 13 October 1916, Boulder, WA.  Frank married Beryl Olive BECKWORTH.

 

Sidney Guildford Collins [1879] married Amalia Hedwig KLIEN in 1908, Perth, WA.  Sidney died on the 8 August 1949, and is buried at Dalwallinu, WA.

 

Arthur Douglas Collins [1882] joined the the 5th Australian Pioneers and fought in WW1.  He died in Wiltshire, England on Thursday the 15 March 1917, aged 33 years, from pneumonia, and is buried in the Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire.  Prior to joining the Army Arthur was a gardener.  He had attended Perth Boys School in WA.

 

Violet May Collins [1887] married Thomas V C MALONEY in 1908, Perth, WA.  Violet died in 1936, Perth, WA.

 

Cecilia Caroline Collins [1891] married Oliver McCRACKEN in 1913, Perth, WA.  Cecilia died on the 26 December 1946, and is buried at Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth, WA.
