Edward Knowsley

Edward Knowsley was the son of George Knowsley and Ann Skilbeck. He was the youngest of seven children.
Edward Knowsley married Ann Unknown circa 1810. As four of their children had the name 2nd or 3rd name Rogers, I am guessing that their mother Ann was nee Rogers. I have found no proof of this, as I have yet to find the marriage for Edward and Ann.

Helen Rogers Knowsley born 21 Jan 1821 baptised 5 June 1824 in Holy Trinity, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire
Sarah Harriet Rogers Knowsley born circa 1830 in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire
In 1841 Edward, Ann and their children Ellen (Helen), and Sarah are living in Northampton Terrace, St Mary Islington East, Middlesex. Edward's occupation is 'Merchant'.
The 1851 census shows the family now living at 16 Shacklenwell Street, West Hackney, Middlesex. Edward's occupation is now listed as a 'Wine Merchant'. Wife Ann, children Edward, Ellen and Sarah are also present. Also listed is Emma Overett 'daughter' aged 22 born in Newington, Middlesex. It is possible Emma was adopted between 1841 and 1851. She went on to marry Alfred John Sheppey in 1862 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex. Her father is listed as Samuel Overett a cooper.
Ann Knowsley died aged about 69 years old in 1858. She was buried on 25 February 1858 in the West Hackney Church grounds.
In 1861 Edward is living at 55 Church Road West, Islington, Middlesex with his daughter Ellen (Helen) and is a 71 year old retired merchant. Ellen is 37 years old and has no occupation listed.
