After Mary Robinson (nee Dunn) died, John Robinson married Jane WALKER in 1874 at Pickering, Yorkshire.  On the 1881 Census there is only John, Jane and granddaughter Jane Ann Binnington living on the farm in Scarborough Road, Bridlington.  Jane Walker was born on 22 February 1828 at Pickering, Yorkshire.  She died in 1922 in Bridlington, Yorkshire.

John Robinson and Ann Knowsley

John ROBINSON and Ann KNOWSLEY were married on the 28 February 1872 at the Wesleyan Chapel, Bridlington.  John Shipham, Wesleyan Minister officiated at the marriage.  The witnesses were Anthony Wait and Mary Ann Wait.

John and Ann's children were:

John Henry born 1872 at Bridlington

Mary Ann born 1874 at Bridlington

George Robert born 1875 at Bridlington

Eliza Jane born 1877 at Bridlington - married Carter STYAN

Albert William born 12 March 1878 at Bridlington  (my great grandfather)

James Edward born 1879 at Bridlington

In 1881 John and Ann were living at East Huntow Farm, on Hunmanby Road, Bridlington.  I have been told by Mr David Mooney, a local Bridlington Historian, that "East Huntow" is Anglo Saxon for 'East of Hunter's How' - 'How' means old burial mound or barrow.  This area is still called East Huntow and old flint tools and axes from the stone age were found there, which makes it one of the oldest farmsteads in East Yorkshire.

After John died in 1884, Ann moved into the town of Bridlington and resumed her trade of Dress and Mantle maker. Ann died on the 23 December 1926 at 23 Kirkgate, Bridlington.

Albert William Robinson and Victoria Adelaide Robinson

My great grandfather, Albert William Robinson was born in Bridlington, Yorkshire, England on the 12 March 1878.  On the 18 August 1903, at the Registry Office, Long Lane, Bridlington, he married Victoria Adelaide Robinson, (who was born Adela Robinson) on 18 April 1880 at Knaresborough in Yorkshire.

Albert was said to be one of the first Motor Mechanics in England, and during his Army Career with the Yorkshire Rifle Brigade, was a driver for Army officers during his tour of Egypt and France in WW1.

During this time Victoria ran their home 'Ailsa Craig' in Bridlington as a boarding house.

Albert and Victoria had three daughters:  Mabel Mary bn 7 July 1904, Nelly bn 25 April 1906, and Phyllis bn 26 October 1909.

Albert, Victoria and their three daughters came to Australia from 'Ailsa Craig', 8 Clarence Road, Bridlington, Yorkshire, England.  The family arrived at Fremantle, Western Australia on the 'Orvieto' on 31 March 1921.  They settled in Mt Barker, WA and planted an apple orchard.  The property was on Wilson Road, south of Kendenup.

I have been told that Albert and his family came to Australia as he had health problems with his lungs, and his doctors felt the air in Australia would be more healthy for Albert.  Unfortunately this was not successful, as Albert died on the 25 March 1935 from Carcinoma of the Stomach and Cachexia.  He was only 58 years old.  Albert is buried in the Mt Barker Cemetery.  Victoria Adelaide died on the 27 September 1939, and is buried in the Old Albany Cemetery.

Mabel Mary Robinson was my grandmother.  She married James McKenzie MCEWAN on the 2 October 1924 at St Georges Cathedral, Perth, WA.
