Sarah Langley was the daughter of convict parents David Langley and Phillis Skinner.

She married John Edmonds on the 14th February 1860 at the Chalmers Free Presbyterian Church, Hobart.  Sarah and John had nine children.  Amy Elizabeth 1860 Hobart, Alice Amelia 1862 Hobart; Sarah Jane 1864 Hobart; Julia Elizabeth 1866 Sale, Victoria; Arthur Henry, 1870 Ballarat, Victoria; Amelia 1874 Sale, Victoria; John Thomas 1876, Sale, Victoria; Jessie Cecilia 1878 Sale, Victoria; and George David 1880 Sale, Victoria.

As a young married mother, Sarah also took care of her sister Rachel.  Rachel was living with Sarah and John Edmonds in Argyle Street, Hobart when she died in 1861 from diphtheria.  It is also possible that Sarah's brother Richard was living with them at the time, as he also died from diphtheria in 1861 in Argyle Street, Hobart.  Just prior to Rachel and Richard's deaths, their mother Phillis married Joel Orme on 17th July 1861, and it is unknown where she was living at that time.

Sarah Edmonds nee Langley died on the 2nd October 1912 at Fitzroy South, Melbourne, Victoria.  Her husband John Edmonds had predeceased her in 1883, leaving her to raise her six remaining living children on her own.
