Knowledge = Competitive Advantage
February 20th, 2009 by Wiese
I have a thirst for knowledge and passion for learning. This comes in handy when working with customers who like to maintain a technology edge for strategic advantage. Hence I've established high value relationships with leading universities including:
This includes personally supporting the institutions by being a:
- Bachelor of Engineering Advisory Committee Member, Curtin
- School of Computer Science and Software Engineering Industry Advisory Panel, UWA
- Regular Guest Lecturer at Curtin University and UWA
- Student supervisor for Curtin and UWA industry projects
UNIVERSITY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D) PROJECTS
In 2001 I established a strong relationship with Curtin University, Western Australia. Each year I choose an R&D
project and then host 3-4 final year students who are completing a Bachelor of Engineering Degree. As the student's
"major project" they work one day a week on-site with me over 9 months. The students gain valuable knowledge and
first hand industry experience. I benefit from the opportunity to vet for potential new employees and gain
prototypes which can be used to convince customers to explore new technologies (ie - student R&D is an effective
risk mitigation strategy before committing to emerging technologies).
