James and the Giant…everythingRussian Doll Billie was ‘flashed out’ by James Taylor, the Academic Development Centre’s multimedia architect extraordinaire.
Billie began life as a badly drawn girl on a coffee break post-it note. Without James’s acute design savvy and highly developed technical and graphical expertise she would have never have shimmied across your screen.
It really does take an entire ‘skills village’ to raise your ‘online roleplay - baby’, to provide a well-balanced, active, insightful, good looking, grown up learning experience for everyone involved. Anyone in hot pursuit of web-based ‘sim’ success, would do well to include someone like James in their team.
Since my key word here is emotion, I’ll couch my description of James’s contribution to this project in feeling terms, so that you will all know what to look for in a
multi media architect.Relief at his readiness to say ‘Yes’ as in ‘Yes, it's all entirely possible and ‘Yes we can meet the deadline’ and ‘Yes we can have music and gardenias’
Delight in his consistent inventiveness, wit, capacity to pull divergent ‘thought bytes’ together and incorporate sudden changes of heart and mind
Awe at how he turned the scribbled ‘germ’ of an idea into a very groovy, accurate web-ready, ‘doll themed’ emotional journey.
