Collapse/Expand Instructions Keyboard Short-cuts Before you use the macros make sure the keyboard short-cuts I have defined do not conflict with any you may have already created. Collapse This macro will Œcollapse¹ paragraphs to the first line. In addition the last word of the first line will also be collapsed. It works by applying the invisible format to these parts. In order for you to see the paragraph/s collapse you must not have ŒInvisible Text¹ showing in the file. Any paragraph which contains a selection will be collapsed. You do not have to select all of the paragraph, just a word, or a character in the paragraph is enough. You can select paragraphs non-contiguously of course and if you wish to collapse all the paragraphs in a file simply ŒSelect All¹ first. The remaining first line will have the Œbox¹ style applied. This is to let you know that it has been collapsed. If there is only one line in a paragraph then that will not of course be collapsed. Why does the ŒCollapse¹ macro collapse the last word of the first line as well as the rest of the paragraph? Because when the first line of a paragraph goes all the way to the right line wrap in Œcollapsed¹ mode the paragraph return will be on the following line, there won¹t in this case be room for it on the remaining visible first line. This will give the appearance of two empty lines after this collapsed paragraph. Expand This is applied in exactly the same way as the ŒCollapse¹ macro. This macro will remove the Œbox¹ style as well as the invisible style. You will find that if you toggle ŒInvisible Text¹ on and off you can collapse/expand the paragraphs that way. There is however a danger in this because if you have Invisible Text showing and start editing the text you might get into a mess with the Invisible Text formatting. It is best therefore to keep Invisible Text not showing in the file and instead expand using the Expand macro. This means you will not be accidentally editing invisible text. Disclaimer I can¹t take any responsibility for any problems or damage from the use of any of these macros.
